The LTR Summer Half Marathon around Pendle Hill was always going to be challenging, and it didn't disappoint. While the weather didn't feel much like summer with drizzle and cloud on the higher points, the route was an enjoyable one. Runners were guided around the Blackmoss Reservoirs and across Twiston Moor, before the gruelling ascent of Pendle 'Big End'. After a drink stop the route followed Ogden Clough, passing the imposing Fell Wood and the Ogden Reservoirs before returning to Barley. Many of the group rewarded themselves with a well-earned hot drink in the friendly Cabin Cafe in Barley. The wet weather didn't dampen the spirits and everyone contributed to an upbeat, positive atmosphere throughout, a couple of 'Trail Lovers' even described it as their favourite LTR route to date. Our next Special Event Half Marathon is another undulating and challenging route heading out from Settle on 28th August (Bank Holiday Monday) #ExploreNaturesGym
